Brigg Town Devs 2 – 2 Immingham Town (AET)

The Devs came up just short in Saturday’s Lincolnshire League Supplementary Cup semi-final after a thrilling 2-2 result after extra time against higher-division opponents Immingham Town.

Immingham took the lead from a corner with 15 minutes to go. With the last touch of the 90 minutes, 17-year-old Harry Morris equalised with a looping header off Charlie Robson’s flick on from Matty Dale’s long throw to send the game into extra time.

10 minutes into extra time, Robson put us 2-1 up, finishing well from Will Walker’s great delivery from a corner. A second booking meant we were down to 10 players for the remaining part of the game, and Immingham equalised with 10 minutes to go in the second period of extra time.

The game went to penalties with the visitors winning 5-3 to progress through to the final, and we were out in the cruellest of ways.

We wish Immingham Town FC all the best for the final and thank Appleby Frodingham Football Club for their hospitality and the use of their facilities for the game.

Manager Andy Cawte said “There were some massive performances from everyone in the 16 yesterday, but the experienced Paddy Shaw, Adam Gowing, Jonny Nicholls, Harley Brydon and Matty Dale set the standards for the whole team to build on, and they did. The young lads like Will Walker, Harry Morris, Rian Jacklin, James Jackson, Conlan Dooley, Daniel Carter stood up as men along with Jake Ricketts, Danny Jewell, Kurtis Gollings, Charlie Robson and Jack Raines, who all put bodies on the line and fought for each other.

“So proud but gutted for the lads as the effort, application and desire were superb throughout“.

Many thanks to the 100-plus crowd who came to support the lads, it’s massively appreciated by us all.

The Devs are sponsored by Power Distribution Control Ltd, PDC Racing & Nor-Lait Promotions for the season.
