Attracting an attendance of more than 450 spectators, Brigg were soon on the offensive and scored the opening goal after just five minutes of play when Scott Phillips ran on to a ball played in from the left wing to drive it into the corner of the net. They continued to press down the left-wing and a firm volley flew just wide of the upright.
The second goal came in the thirteenth minute after winning a loose ball in midfield allowing Scott Phillips to exploit the space available before seizing the scoring opportunity. This put them in control of the game and they continued to create more opportunities.
David Birch had little to deal with in the Brigg goal area behind a strong defence throughout the first half of the game except for a single shot from Jack Cross from the edge of the penalty area, which he saved with confidence. Another free kick for Brigg by Martin Pembleton was headed clear and then as half-time approached, there was a fifteen-minute delay in play due to a floodlight failure, after which the game was resumed.

Bottesford showed more determination from the start of the second half but the home side continued to look comfortable in holding their two-goal advantage. David Birch was called upon to make a couple of early saves and at the other end of the field, Alfie Usher delivered a telling cross along the face of the goal area. Jon Oglesby, who had a commanding game throughout, made forward runs to deliver the ball into the danger area.
The visitors had their best spell in the closing fifteen minutes of the game exerting some pressure on the home defenders. The nearest they succeeded in reducing the arrears came from a shot which forced David Birch to save low down with his legs then followed by the need for him to tip another scoring attempt over the crossbar.
As the game approached the final whistle, frustrations began to show and the officials had to deal with an incident that resulted in both teams being reduced to nine players only.
Brigg finished as winners of the game and now face Winterton Rangers in the final of the competition towards the end of the season.
