The Zebras began brightly with Josh Batty forcing goalkeeper Noah Setterfield into a double save. Soon afterwards he curled a free kick narrowly off target.
Scott Phillips then fired wide after being played in by Joe McFadyen.
Despite Brigg’s attacking threats, Rossington took the lead on 28 minutes. Josh Skill delivered a telling cross and Finley O’Sullivan’s attempt to head clear went into his own net.
Brigg responded with a 25-yard shot from McFadyen hitting the left post.
Rossington finished the half strongly with Gary Mundy also hitting the post from a left-wing corner and Louis Thwaites coming close.

Brigg were rocked by a second goal just 5 minutes into the second half. It came when Gary Mundy’s flick on from Sam Kitchen’s cross found Jordan Whittle, who turned the ball in from close range.
The Zebras kept going and introduced substitute Kevan Kahoussi.
Kahoussi soon made an impact winning a penalty after being tripped by Paul Sherburn. Phillips made no mistake from the spot giving Brigg a lifeline in the 63rd minute.
Brigg then had a goal wrongly disallowed – Batty was definitely onside the moment McFadyen threaded the ball through Rossington’s defence. The offside flag should not have gone up after he fired home.
However, Kahoussi equalized on 89 minutes cutting inside from the left before shooting into the far corner from a slight angle.
It looked like penalties would be required to settle the cup tie, but there was one final twist.
In the third minute of stoppage time, O’Sullivan let fly from 30 yards and found the net sending the EC Surfacing Stadium into a state of euphoria.
The visitors had no time to reply and Brigg ran out 3-2 winners on a night to remember. The Zebras showed great character to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
This was an astonishing game of football that the club will remember for a long time.
