Andy Cawte’s men cruised to a 3-0 home triumph over Horncastle Town.

Brigg Town’s Development Squad had an evening to remember at the EC Surfacing Stadium. A goal from Kian Humphriss followed by Louie Osborne’s brace sealed a 3-0 victory against the Wongers.
The youngsters took a 10th-minute lead through Humphriss, who buried the rebound after Osbourne’s shot was well blocked.
Adam Hornsby, Osborne and Humphriss then came close before Brigg added the second goal. It came on 41 minutes when Hornsby’s cross was headed across goal by Joe Hare leaving Osborne with an easy finish.
A good start to the second half saw Osborne bag his second goal in the 48th minute. Hornsby surged down the right and fizzed in a low cross for the striker to fire home.
Horncastle improved after going 3-0 down, but their attacks through the middle were stifled by the centre-back pairing of Chris Rodgers and Jacob Norburn. Those two were solid in the heart of defence with holding midfielders Adam Gowing and Alfie Rigo protecting them.
Late on many substitutions were made giving every player a run out.
The Wongers were denied a consolation goal right at the end by Gareth Johnson – Brigg’s stopper pulled off a one handed save to preserve the clean sheet.
It was a great night with all players being a credit to themselves and the club.
Manager Andy Cawte was delighted.
“It was great to get a result that the performance warranted!
“The lads have improved and developed in these 8-9 months. They’re such a good group with the youth backed up by 3-4 older lads helping them along the way.
“The front four of Joe Hare, Adam Hornsby, Kian Humphriss and Louie Osborne are only 16 and 17. They combined for all three of our goals.
“Gareth Johnson in goal, skipper Chris Rodgers and Jacob Norburn at centre back with Adam Gowing in front of them brought that experience and base. Alfie Rigo, Dylan Fox and Jamahl Palfreyman, who are all 17, added to that.
“All five subs played their part too – Jake Ricketts, Jack Johnstone, Ben Gray, Jack Follows and Jacob Wood from the U16 team helped us see the game through until the end.
“It was a top level performance and we had great comments from the Horncastle lads and match officials. Thanks to all the fans who braved the weather to support the boys.
“This is just the start with more to come from this group!”
Well done to the young Zebras!
