Brigg Town FC CIC 0-4 Ollerton Town

After a run of the three wins the Zebras were brought down to earth with a bang, losing 4-0 to Ollerton Town.

The visitors took a 3rd-minute lead through Ashley Grayson, who headed home Lewis Bingham’s cross.

Goals were then disallowed at both ends with Bingham and Joe Pugh having headers ruled out for alleged fouls in the build-ups.

Afterwards, Ollerton’s Jake Squires came close with a good effort.

At the other end, Josh Batty dribbled past the defence before forcing Owen Evans into a smart stop.

Minutes later Bingham had another goal ruled out – on that occasion he was offside after being teed up by Grayson.

Towards the end of the half, Jody Barford pulled off an impressive double save keeping out Joe Lumley’s shot followed by his rebound.

Barford also thwarted Lumley on the stroke of half time clawing away his goal-bound header.

The lead was doubled in the first minute of the second half when Bingham raced clear and dinked the ball over the onrushing Barford.

In the 57th minute, Matthew Thompson headed in a third goal after great work on the left from Lewis Murr.

Ollerton continued to dominate at 3-0 with Jake Squires being denied by Barford at full stretch.

On 80 minutes the fourth goal came in fortuitous circumstances with Murr’s attempted cross looping into the back of the net.

Late on Barford was called into action once more saving Bingham’s drive from the edge of the box. Brigg’s stopper was their standout player – the margin of victory could have been even greater without him.

The Zebras hope to bounce back at Rossington Main after a very disappointing afternoon.
