Brigg began the game well with three successive attacks involving Scott Phillips, but Cheadle defended well as they settled down to pass the ball about with confidence.
Their first threat came down the left wing but was blocked by the home defence.
Cheadle were awarded a couple of free kicks which were played into the Brigg penalty area by Adam Jones and Daniel Hewitt, the second leading to a corner kick. The ball in wasn’t properly cleared, allowing Thomas Murray to strike and give his team the lead after seventeen minutes.
Clearly encouraged by this success, the visitors continued on the offensive and had the ball in the net again after twenty-five minutes, but an offside decision was given.
Jordan Latham, the Cheadle goalkeeper, needed treatment for an injury sustained after halting a Brigg attack, whilst another free kick from Hewitt was well defended.
Cheadle continued to exert pressure on the Brigg defence for the remainder of the half to go into the break with a single goal lead.

The second half began with Brigg mounting an attack that ended with Latham tipping a chipped shot from Phillips over the bar. The resulting corner was cleared out of the goal area.
Martin Pembleton was having an influence on Brigg’s midfield play but received a facial injury and had to be substituted.
Almost immediately afterwards, on the hour mark, Cheadle scored again. Counterattacking down the right wing, the ball was played into the penalty area where it was unfortunately diverted by a misplaced tackle to Callum McGlynn, who had the space and time to find the back of the net from twelve yards out.
With confidence now very high, Cheadle had the opportunity to add a third goal following another nervous defensive error.
Then, a Thomas Murray free kick from outside the penalty area went over the bar.
As Brigg pushed further forward looking for something from the game, they were caught out again by a slick counterattack six minutes from time which resulted in Ryan Usher grabbing a third goal, sealing the tie.
Cheadle Town advance to the third round of the competition and Brigg now return to concentrate on their League programme.
