After four minutes of play, Brigg’s first attack down their left wing was cleared and Skegness countered. Sloppy defending allowed Declan Johnson to gain possession inside the penalty area unmarked and he drove the ball into the back of the net from fifteen yards out.
The rest of the first half was fairly even with both sides creating chances but being caught offside.
Brigg’s best opportunity to level the score came just before the break when Chaz Fisher’s through ball split the Skegness defence and found Declan Bacon who squared it for Scott Hutchinson, but his shot was saved by the Skegness keeper.

The second half began even worse than the first with the visitors gifted a second goal after a right-wing corner kick. Gary King seized the opportunity to drive a loose ball into the back of the net from a short distance out after more poor defending.
Brigg responded with their only worthwhile attack of the whole game when a free kick by Steve McCarron struck the post and bounced away clear.
For the remainder of the game, Skegness were in full control as Brigg struggled to put any constructive moves together and continued to make too many individual mistakes.
Skegness’s third goal was scored in the seventieth minute when confusion between Jack Follows and Lewis Hill presented Leon Mettam with the easiest of chances and their fourth came thirteen minutes later from the same player after the home defence was caught wide open by a ball played straight down the middle of the pitch for him to drive it into the back of the net.
