Brigg were hoping to put the last couple of results behind them but as in those two games, they played well in the first half before losing control of the game in the second period. Miles Fenty returned to keep goal, but Ryan Thompson was unavailable and manager Brett Agnew opted to play himself up front as a striking partner for Declan Bacon.

When the game began Owen Vincent’s forward surge in the first minute was halted at the edge of the penalty area.
After two minutes of play, Louth midfielder Kieran Perry was cautioned for a recklessly high challenge on Steve McCarron, who needed treatment before continuing. Agnew was ruled off-side and after another attack, Declan Bacon’s deep cross went across the face of the goal.
When the home team began to settle, two attacks were headed clear from the Brigg penalty area but striker Jordan Smith found the space but dragged his shot wide. Brigg’s response won a free kick on their right wing which was met by Chas Fisher’s header going over the bar.
On twenty-two minutes, Louth’s Alex Aldrich was sin-binned for dissent and Brigg took advantage of the extra man by scoring the opening goal two minutes later when Jack Boswell followed up on a cross which was initially blocked, driving it firmly into the corner of the net.
Brigg continued to press forward and created a few good chances to increase their lead before half time but none of these were taken and the two teams went into the break with just the single goal separating them.

The second half began with the home team on the offensive winning an early right-wing corner kick which was cleared off the goal line. Then Aldrich met a free kick from the right to head the ball wide of Fenty’s goal. Reece Southwood was sent clear but the ball bounced away from him in front of the goal.
Louth continued to press and were rewarded for their efforts by scoring an equaliser in the fifty-eighth minute. It came from Bailey Wright after he ran clear down the right wing before beating Fenty with a powerful shot from fifteen yards out.
The game had turned and after Owen Vincent was sin-binned, a chance fell to Smith but he struck his shot wide of the target.
A break in play in order for drinks to be taken in the blazing sunshine gave some respite and upon resumption of play, McCarron went close with a shot over the crossbar after he had worked his way to the edge of the penalty area.
Agnew continued to win the high balls played forward for him to lay off and went close himself with a header going marginally wide.
Louth took the lead after eighty-two minutes when a long ball was launched down the middle of the pitch for Jordan Smith to chase and control before knocking it past the advancing Fenty.
After taking the lead, Louth tried to secure their position while Brigg continued to look to gain something from the game. With time running out, Brigg’s assistant manager Joe Lamplough was sent off after an altercation with the assistant referee.
Then, in the final minute of added time, Brigg snatched an equaliser when substitute Alfie Usher was in the right place at the right time to tap home from a cross.
Brigg have a home fixture on Wednesday evening when Nostell Miners Welfare are the visitors and follow this with a testing game next Saturday afternoon away at Retford United.
