
From the kickoff, Brigg attacked down the left wing winning a free-kick which was headed clear by Bradbury. Hallam soon responded with two dangerous breaks but these were well defended. Play continued end to end in the opening stages but goalkeeper Zac Walker was required to tip a shot from Andy Taylor round his upright and another long-range effort flew well over the crossbar.
The opening goal was scored by the home team after sixteen minutes of play when Andy Taylor and Dayle Hutson combined well after a quick break down the left wing involving Scott Phillips resulted in the ball being switched inside and struck into the top of the net from fifteen yards out.
Six minutes later, Wayne Graves was shown a red card following a strong challenge on Iren Wilson in a central position just outside the penalty area.
From the free kick awarded, Steve Woolley’s effort was well wide of Miles Fenty’s goal. Hallam began to enjoy the advantage of an extra player and pushed forward more with an equalising goal coming after twenty-seven minutes. The dangerous Iren Wilson chased a ball into the penalty area but his first attempt was blocked before falling kindly for him to have a second chance which was duly accepted.
Hallam appeared to be getting control of the game but Brigg reacted well and after thirty-nine minutes, the lead was restored. The goal came when a headed clearance from outside the penalty area by Scott Phillips found Martin Pembleton in space on the right just inside the Hallam half and he was able to advance further unchecked before smashing the ball into the roof of the net from twenty yards out.
In the closing minute of the first half, a left-wing attack by the visitors ended with the ball landing safely on the top netting of Miles Fenty’s goal.


Three minutes into the second half, Iren Wilson made a telling run on the right wing before cutting inside and shooting the ball over the crossbar of the goal. When Martin Pembleton switched play across the pitch to find Andy Taylor in space on the right the Brigg striker’s cross was blocked allowing goalkeeper Zac Walker to pick up the ball.
Iren Wilson continued to be the main threat and he combined well with Bradbury and Salt before successive shots were fired wide. Then a shot from Gregory from the corner of the penalty area was confidently held by Miles Fenty.
Hallam continued to press for a second goal but Brigg defended really well and as the game moved into the last ten minutes, two clear chances fell for the home team to increase the lead when Alfie Usher and Josh Jordan were denied by ‘keeper Walker.
On Wednesday evening, Brigg travel to play against Armthorpe Welfare and follow this with another home game on Saturday afternoon against Clipstone.
