Brigg began brightly with Stephen McCarron forcing Joe Dunn into a save and Josh Batty having a shot blocked by Billy Rhodes.
Charles Fisher then headed McCarron’s corner wide before Batty came close with a 20-yarder.
Afterwards, Cole Patrick did very well to get in the way of Jack Richardson’s goal-bound effort as the Zebras continued to dominate.
Armthorpe scored against the run of play when Jamie Austin fired home from the edge of the box.
A few minutes later Cian Guest rose highest to head Jack Wilson’s free kick into the top corner. Consequently, Brigg trailed 2-0 at half time despite being the better side for long periods.

Although the Zebras kept going in the second half, it was hard to create chances on a wet and muddy pitch while Wellie were protecting their lead.
There was little to speak of until changes were made with Jack Boswell and Scott Hutchinson replacing Luke Mascall and Conner Harman respectively.
The substitutes combined for a goal-scoring opportunity with Hutchinson heading Boswell’s cross into the path of Batty, whose effort struck one of many defenders in a crowded goalmouth.
McCarron and Batty stung the palms of Dunn as Brigg piled on the pressure. However, no goals were pulled back and Armthorpe were unfortunate not to add a third late on.
The visitors thought they’d scored when Kane Reece’s low drive seemed destined for the bottom corner, but Miles Fenty did brilliantly to save the ball with his foot.
The Zebras stopper then clawed out Austin’s thunderbolt in the closing stages.
Brigg’s performance was mostly okay – their bad spell late in the first half made a difference though.
Hopefully, there will be a positive reaction against Shirebrook Town on Wednesday evening.
